Pot still gedistilleerd uit melasse in de Foursquare distilleerderij in Barbados, ruste deze Rum in Bourbon vaten totdat ons schip Tres Hombres met hun eigen vaten in Bridgetown aankwam. Vier maanden varen door het Caribisch gebied en terug naar Amsterdam heeft deze uitstekende Rum een duidelijke Tres Hombres finish gegeven.
Prachtig gebalanceerd, een heerlijke nippende Rum. De neus heeft een zachte complexiteit. Hij is weelderig, niet overdreven zoet en mist de funky punch van veel Jamaicaanse rum. In de mond is hij olieachtig en helder, lang en levendig met lagen steenfruit, warme chocolademix en lichte bruine suiker.
El Dorado rums zijn blendselecties van verschillende “vintages” of partijen rums uit verschillende stills – gerijpt in eiken vaten. Belangrijk is dat de leeftijdsaanduiding specifiek de jongste Rum in de blend aangeeft, ook al kan de oudste vele jaren ouder zijn.
Een uitstekende vintage of "Millésime" van de Guadeloupese distilleerderij Damoiseau. Dit is een Rum Agricole, wat betekent dat hij wordt gemaakt met het gefermenteerde sap van het suikerriet in plaats van met melasse of Demerara. Dat zorgt voor een meer geurige en frisse spirit, gewaardeerd om zijn subtiliteit.
Dzama Vanilla 10 is een 10 jaar oude rum. Wat ongebruikelijk is voor een rum van deze rijpheid, is dat een vanilleboon uit Madagaskar is toegevoegd. De neus van deze rum is voor echte fijnproevers.
Deze Rum doet zijn naam “Non-Plus Ultra” eer aan, wat losjes vertaald “De Beste” of “Geen enkele na deze” betekent. Non-Plus Ultra wordt met de hand geblend door de Meester Distilleerder die persoonlijk elk vat selecteert dat in de uiteindelijke Rum wordt opgenomen.
